Jamie Oliver Ipad App

The ipad version of Jamie Olivers Cooking App also works well when it comes to legibility, and the way its layed out is clear and is easy to interact with. I like how he uses a dark wood effect background and lighter text, it gives it natural feel, which compliments his organic cooking.

Jamie Oliver Cooking App

I liked the look of jamie Oliver's cooking app for the iPhone. Its clear and easy to use. I like the way he uses tabs for different sections of the app, for example to show the steps, or the ingredients. Its better how he's broken them up so it makes it easier for the user to look around, rather than having one big block of text to sought through. The colours he has used works well as well, and the legibility is sufficient enough to read easily without having to zoom in closer.

Game 2

This game I have found catches my eye as I liked the idea of the characters being Little monsters/dinosaurs. the background is static and stays the same, and the branches move up as the dinosaur bounces on them to move upwards, so when the branches moves it gives the illusion the whole page is moving upwards.

I like the idea of giving the characters personality, and making up what food they like and what they do and don't like, and their age, I think it gives the game that added interest to appeal to a younger target audience. The instructions are clear and understandable. And the score, the baby dinos they collect and the height are very clearly shown at the side of the game.

Game Design

This is a screen shot of a game I have found which influences me on how I want my game to be like. The background is static, with a score counter and a timer. The objective is clear, to bounce the ducks to the teddy in the bath. With his game also, you are only using the left and right arrow keys on a computer keyboard, which is how I want me game to be controlled aswell.
The character in the game looks like it has been made on illustrator, using just block colours without any gradients. Same with the surrounding objects in the game.

Platform game

I have an idea to create a flat platform game, which includes just using the up, down, left and right arrow keys to controll my character.

''A platform game (or platformer) is a video game which requires an avatar to jump to and from suspended platforms and/or over obstacles (jumping puzzles) to advance the game. The player must control these jumps to avoid the avatar falling from platforms or missing necessary jumps. The most common unifying element of games of this video game genre is the jump button. "Jumping" may include swinging from extendable arms, as in Ristar or Bionic Commando, or bouncing from springboards or trampolines, as in Alpha Waves. These mechanics, even in the context of other genres, are commonly called platforming, a verbification of platform. Games where jumping is automated completely, such as The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, fall outside of the genre.
Platform games originated in the early 1980s, followed by 3D successors, which were popularized in the mid-1990s. The term itself describes games where jumping on platforms is an integral part of the gameplay, and came into use some time after the genre had been established, but no later than 1983.[1][2][3] However, it is not a pure genre and is very frequently coupled with elements of other genres, such as the shooter elements in Contra, the adventure elements of Flashback or the RPG elements of Castlevania: Symphony of the Night.''

Pacman

Pacman - 1980-1981

Pac Man is one of the first interactive flat landscape maze computer game . the player controls the the giant yellow circle with a wedge removed for a mouth, with either a joy stick or the up,down, left and right keys on a keyboard to eat all the dots. they have to avoid the ghosts which are chasing it. If they succeed, they move up a level. I like the simplicity of the game, and the levels which enables you to move up to higher levels faster.
I want to create a platform game for the computer this pacman, but not a maze.

Pib & Pob

I want to design a platform game, that is very basic and simple when it comes to the objects in the game and the environment.

I like the idea of using models and just a clear white space, with a few other objects in the environment to give the feel of depth.

Heres an example I found on youtube, which has both of these in.
